Duo Nabbed With Multiple Ghost Guns During Stop At Western Mass Intersection

A Massachusetts State Police trooper on patrol during a distracted driving enforcement campaign in Hampshire County busted a pair who were found to be in possession of “ghost guns” and ammunition after being busted driving with a cellphone.

A trooper on patrol at approximately 7 p.m. on Monday, April 25 spotted and stopped a gray Chevrolet Silverado after seeing the driver actively holding and using a cellphone, which was “the precise target of the enforcement campaign,” police said.

The stop was ultimately conducted at the intersection of Route 32 and Route 9 in Ware.

During the subsequent stop, the driver, Worcester County resident Kyle Juda, age 20 of Gilbertville, allegedly opened his glove box to get his vehicle’s registration and proof of insurance, at which point, a state police trooper identified a firearm.

Police noted that neither Juda nor his passenger, 19-year-old Devin Jauridez, of Ware, had a license to carry a weapon.

According to police, additional troopers then arrived at the scene, and while Jauridez was being removed from the vehicle and placed into a custody, a firearm magazine was found in his pocket.

When Juda was placed into custody, police said that troopers located brass knuckles in his pocket.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of:

One Sig Sauer P365 loaded with ammunition;
Nine large-capacity magazines;
A large ammunition can;
Two mason jars containing marijuana;
A digital scale with empty clear plastic baggies.

Juda was charged with:

Three counts of improper storage of a firearm;
Three counts of illegal possession of a firearm;
Nine counts of possession of a large-capacity feeding device;
Carrying a dangerous weapon;
Three counts of possession of a large-capacity firearm while in commission of a felony;
Possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute;
Open container of alcohol in a vehicle;
Use of an electronic device while operating a vehicle.

Jauridez was charged with:

Illegal possession of a firearm;
Possession of a large-capacity feeding device;
Open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

Bail was set at $1,000 for Juda and $500 for Juaridez. They were scheduled to be arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court at a later date.
